Dear Reader,

Welcome to a super fab refresh of the Unwinnable brand! Please take a moment to bask in its glory, be charmed by its essence and thank Derek Kinsman for his hard work!

In this month’s cover feature (cover art by the excellent Evlyn Moreau), Ben Thorp looks at how the videogames Season and Pentiment both look at the way art portrays the past (and struggles with the present). Our second feature has Nathan Schmidt wondering where all the haunted videogames are at.

In the middle of the book, Oluwatayo Adewole continues our feature series Funeral Rites, sponsored by tabletop RPG publisher and distributor Exalted Funeral. They chat with Colin Le Seur about Runecairn, We Deal in Lead and deconstructing fascistic revisions of Norse mythology.

As for our regular columnists, feast your eyes on Oluwatayo Adewole again, this time jumping back to 1994! Maddi Chilton is left feeling dry by adaptations. Amanda Hudgins digs into “cisswap.” Emma Kostoplus opens a vault of horrors. Matt Marrone helps his son build a vault of horrors! Justin Reeve’s piece has nothing to do with a vault of horrors except the one we live on. Rob Rich digs into the little things Resident Evil 4 Remake changed. Levi Rubeck went to PAX East AGAIN! Phil Russell *checks notes* digs into some of the little things Resident Evil 4 Remake changed? Is there an echo in here? What’s this? Ben Sailer is evolving! Collision Detective evolved into Noise Complaint! Would you like to give Noise Complaint a nickname? Phoenix Simms looks back on BioShock Infinite and imagines a more thoughtful version. And Noah Springer brings us home with his picks for this month. Bless you and yours, Noah!

See you all in a few weeks in Exploits!

And while we’re seeing you there, see the assault on reproductive rights around the world and commit to doing one thing to stop it!
