Dear Reader,

It’s easy for one to begin to reflect beginning in December. And here at Unwinnable we’ll do a lot of that with our year end lists. But honestly, the thing I am most doing is looking forward to next year. 2022 aims to be our biggest year ever and I’m so excited for you all to be a part of that journey. I thought about writing a “State of Unwinnable” letter but here it is in one word: great. We’re great and we’re onto greater things every day.

Also, I’d like to announce a new way to stick with us, annual subscriptions! From Thursday, December 15 through December 23, we’ll be running a miniature subscription drive to celebrate. If we can get ten annual subscriptions, we’ll do a special Gremlins issue! Maybe give the gift of Unwinnable to a loved one?

And now, the features. Our cover (art by Zack Giallongo) feature this month is Emma Kostopolus discussing the actual role play in Mass Effect. Next up is Christian Haines on Psychonauts 2, or rather what it isn’t. Also me, dusting off my critical cloak to talk about Deathloop. For our Unreal sponsored feature this month, Ben Sailer takes on Phobos Subhuman.

And now, onto the columns!

Onto the existing cast! Matt Marrone reflects on Bo Burnam’s Inside. Justin Reeve digs deep for a trip to the House of Ashes. Amanda Hudgins discusses the long and, well, just the long of fanfic. Rob Rich feels robbed and less rich because of Nintendo. Noah wraps up with the new and notable albums. Sara Clemens reaches out to a dear friend. Also, back from the land beyond is Stu Horvath with an excerpt from his forthcoming book, detailing the Ghostbusters tabletop roleplaying game and some of its descendants.

May your winter season be bright!

See you all in a few weeks at Exploits!
