Cable TV has been a big part of my life. From my childhood to when I started working, I’ve always loved watching cable TV. However, cable can be a bit restraining, especially when I want to watch my favorite TV show while I’m on the bus on my way home. I’ve stumbled upon this pay as you go (PAYGO) TV and saw that it offered more flexibility than cable TV so I gave it a try.

Well, is it worth switching from cable TV to pay as you go TV? For me, it’s a resounding yes, and I’m here to tell you why.

1. It’s more flexible than cable TV.

As I mentioned above, flexibility is one of the main concerns I had with cable TV. With cable, you will need to be in front of your TV to watch your favorite TV shows. But if you have PAYGO, you can watch your favorite TV shows anywhere you like, whether it’s on your phone, tablet, or even your laptop. All you need to have is an internet connection, so having trusted wireless providers is a must.

2. It doesn’t require long-term contracts.

Cable TV providers often require year-long contracts, which can be too restrictive for some people. What I like most about pay as you go TV is that you can cancel it anytime you like, just as you would with streaming services like Netflix or Disney Plus. You also don’t have to worry about credit scores or credit cards because you won’t need that – well, that’s for Flex TV, not sure about the others though.

But still, it’s a plus for anyone who cannot commit to 12-month or 24-month contracts because they need to move to a different location or just simply don’t want to be tied to a long-term contract.

3. It can save you more money in the long run.

PAYGO TVs are generally more affordable than cable, especially if you think about the associated costs in using them. With cable TV, I had to pay for equipment rent and additional fees for premium channels. With pay as you go TV, I only pay for what I want to watch so I don’t have any additional fees on my back.

Some might say that opting for PAYGO TV will require you to pay for the internet, but the internet is now a necessity that most households already pay for. You just need to look for reliable internet providers and you’re good to go.

4. It offers a lot of content like cable TV.

If you’re like me who enjoys having a lot of options, having PAYGO TV is one of the best decisions you’ll ever make. Pay as you go TV offers almost the same content as cable TV, but you need to be mindful of the specific channels and packages offered by different PAYGO providers. However, most of them offer many premium channels that are already included in their base packages.

5. More and more providers are offering this option.

Like how streaming services started, more and more companies are considering investing in PAYGO TV. This means if you ever decide to subscribe to one, you won’t have a hard time looking for the right service for your specific needs. Whether you like sports, entertainment, or a little bit of both, you’ll be able to find something that suits your specific needs and budget.

The Bottom Line

I can confidently say that switching to pay as you go TV from cable is one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It’s more convenient, more affordable, and more flexible – most of the features people look for from cable TV. Moreover, you don’t have to settle for on-demand content when you can enjoy live TV channels no matter where you are.
