Unwinnable: Is there anything else you would like to talk about?

R.A.: Let me just do a quick plug. Neverwinter comes out October 4, this Tuesday. I will be on a U.S. tour starting that day, and if you want to see all the stops, go to my Facebook page, which is facebook.com/R.A.Salvatore. We have the tour listed in the notes section. It’s also listed at RASalvatore.com and at Wizards.com.

For those folks that can make it out, I hope that you do. We usually have a good time at these signings. The next thing up is Reckoning, which lands in February of next year. I can’t wait for that as well. I will tell everyone that I am also about 80 percent done with the next Drizzt book for next year. All is well here.

Unwinnable: What about the E-Signing? I saw that on your website.

R.A.: The E-Signing ended. We typically have to end those things about a week beforehand because we have to order the books and get them in and we don’t have this vast warehouse where we can just order a bunch of books and send them back. We do E-Signings at my website and this time we did the new book, Neverwinter, Gauntlgrym and some other books that we had left over.

I actually copyrighted and own the term E-Signing, by the way. That was back from Seven Swords many years ago, my little gaming company that I started for about two years.

You can basically buy the book from the website at the regular retail price, pay a couple of bucks for shipping and get the book signed and even personalized. Someone may say it is for my son Tony; can you say Happy Birthday? They will get the book and it will say, “Happy Birthday Tony, R.A. Salvatore,” or something else like that.

Joe, my web guy, is coming by tomorrow with about a thousand books for me to sign and we will be working all day tomorrow and Saturday signing them.

E-Signings work really well. No matter how much you tour, you are never going to get to see most of your readers because it is just too big of a world.

We will be running another one early next year if not before Christmas. I want to do one where I have all five of the Drizzt comics that I wrote with my son Geno. We will have all five of those which you can purchase together, as well as leftovers for this book and last year’s book and other books that I have, so we will be doing more. We do them all of the time at RASalvatore.com.

Unwinnable: That’s great stuff. Thank you for your time.

R.A.: Thank you for your interest.

And that concludes my three-part interview with R.A. Salvatore. I hope you had as much fun reading it as I had doing it. Definitely check out Neverwinter, available now on Amazon.com.

George Collazo has begun dressing like Drizzt, in the hopes that he’ll have multiple lifetimes to read R.A. Salvatore. Your great-great-grandchildren can follow his adventures @GeorgeCollazo.
