Flabbergast – Moonlight Drive 12
Mark’s Commentary:
Any readers from the Lock Haven, Pennsylvania area? That monument in the first set of panels is based on the one found on Bellefonte Avenue. When drawing this page, I used Google Maps as a reference for it. Later, on a road trip for a comic convention, I actually took my picture in front of it. As I smiled for the camera, a guy in a red pickup truck heckled me and yelled, “SAY BOOGER!!!”
My family has a place in the Poconos. Whenever we drive there, we see plenty of moo cows. These sleeping cows are actually based on the “Cow Tipping” episode of Beavis and Butt-Head.
I’m not a fan of talking head pages in comics. Sure, it’s the easy way out, but it gets boring really fast. The next couple of pages feature plenty of dialogue, so I spiced it up with a mixture of traveling shots and tight close-ups. I also color-coded the balloons, to make it easier to follow who’s speaking.
