Monsters, Aliens, and Holes in the Ground

Sometimes second chances deliver.

When The Darkness came out in the summer of 2007, it was an ambitious but flawed first-person shooter featuring a long-haired goth mafia heir possessed by a demon and a lust for carnage. Yawn. It garnered positive reviews (most likely because it was summer), but when BioShock came out one month later, The Darkness was quickly forgotten. Now The Darkness II is on the horizon. Boasting a new look and a new developer (Digital Extremes, the folks behind the Unreal franchise—and who, ironically, also helped develop the PS3 version of BioShock), the sequel is set to make good on the gruesome promises of the original.
