While millions of people are gearing up for some huge releases from Hollywood and the latest must-have fashion items, there are large populations of gamers who can’t wait for some of 2026’s most highly anticipated gaming releases to come out. In fact, the year ahead is shaping up to be one of the biggest ever, especially when looking at some of the most exciting products that are coming to the fore.

For gaming audiences, it’s fair to say they’ve never had it so good. Sure, we’ve witnessed the occasional forgettable year with a limited number of masterpieces, but things seem to be moving in the right direction again. As such, alongside sampling popular options like Fortnite and McLuck’s online plinko games, many passionate gamers out there are also saving up for some of the year’s must-play products. Below, we briefly highlight just some of them.

Crimson Desert

Starting things off with a title many Black Desert Online fans will be keen to get their hands on, Crimson Desert comes out on March 19 and is expected to record big numbers. Whether you sample the game on PC, PS5, or Xbox Series X/S, the title’s open world aspect has the potential to shine, especially given the Nordic-inspired fantasy setting players can traverse. Also providing a stunning visual package and a diverse selection of missions to get your teeth into, Crimson Desert will undoubtedly win over a lot of people in the year ahead.

Forza Horizon 6

If you’re pining for some racing action this year, then Forza Horizon 6 is a game you should immediately add to your list. While there isn’t an exact release date announced yet, it’s a product that will definitely entertain consumers in 2026 when it does eventually arrive. An iconic series, the sixth instalment of this open-world racing favorite appears to have all the ingredients needed to become an undisputed masterpiece.

Resident Evil: Requiem

As far as action-adventure products go, millions of players are excited about the release of Resident Evil: Requiem. A much-loved series of games, the latest instalment arrives towards the end of February on prominent platforms like PC and PlayStation 5. Likely to be a strong contender for the Game of the Year, players take on the role of FBI analyst Grace Ashcroft in Raccoon City. With horrors to overcome and mysteries to solve, Resident Evil: Requiem is a game worth saving up for.

With the potential to be the biggest game of the year, gamers everywhere can’t wait to sample Grand Theft Auto VI. This iconic series is back with a bang, although gamers will have to wait until November 19 to finally play the game after a range of postponements. Grand Theft Auto VI promises to be worth the wait, though, as gamers have an opportunity to explore what could potentially be the finest open-world game we’ve ever seen.

F1 2026

If the aforementioned Forza Horizon 6 isn’t your cup of tea, then you might take to the more authentic racing package on offer in F1 2026. A release that particularly appeals to Formula 1 fanatics, it might not actually arrive until the beginning of 2027, though, but nothing is clear at the time of writing. When it does eventually hit the shelves, though, then you’re almost guaranteed to have a truly authentic Formula 1 game to experience in F1 26.

Other big gaming releases coming in 2026 include Hela (no official release date yet), 007 First Light (27 March), Marvel’s Wolverine (expected in late 2026), Fable (no official release date yet), and Nioh 3 (6 February).
