Here are 5 exciting superhero movies coming to our screens in 2022 – be ready for action and adventure!

Superhero movies have proven to be a popular way to get people back in the theaters, so there’s sure to be even more releases this year. From light-hearted comedy romps to serious delves into the minds, personalities, and stories we love so much, there’s plenty to be inspired and excited by. Make sure you add these key release dates to your “must-watch” calendar sooner rather than later, you don’t want to miss out on the action!

Morbius will bring the Marvel Comics figure, Dr Michael Morbius, to life on our screens this summer. Suffering from an ultra-rare blood disease, this skilled biochemist tried to cure himself, and instead made himself a frightening supervillain with vampire-like tendencies. Jared Leto, already something of a name in the superhero business, will be bringing him to life for the big screen.

Traditionally, he’s been one of the biggest villains in the Spider Man franchise, but we’re still waiting to hear if Spidey himself will feature in this exciting on-screen romp. It will be coming from Sony Pictures, who recently brought Spidey to the screen in the unforgettable blockbuster Spider Man: No Way Home that took the world by storm in December 2021, earning a place as one of the best movies of the year, so no matter what happens, this is likely to be a blast. We’ve been waiting for this one for a long time- since July 2020, in fact, but it’s finally got a confirmed 2022 release date queued up.

    Releasing: April 2022

    The Batman

Who doesn’t love the dark and brooding anti-hero of the Caped Crusader? Despite some originally controversial casting, this epic superhero movie is already colonizing our screens to critical and fan-based acclaim, so you absolutely can’t miss this one.

Set earlier than many of the existing Batman films, this picture is set to revitalize the franchise for new eyes as well as enrapture hardcore fans. Witness a younger Batman as he starts to grapple with the mean streets of Gotham City and establishes himself as the ultimate crime fighter.

There’s plenty of teases for a host of classic Batman villains, and this IP is also set to bring us not only exciting, juicy sequels, but some tie-in streaming series that will explore the franchise in more depth. The Batman places the Riddler front-and-center as the primary villain, but there’s plenty more to come, too, with teases of everyone from the Joker to Catwoman! Releasing: March 2022

    Thor: Love and Thunder

The cast and crew have managed to keep this juicy installment in the famous blonde superhero’s story under wraps, and we haven’t even seen a trailer for it despite the looming release date. We do know, however, that dreamy Chris Hemsworth will return to the screen in the titular role, with a host of other well-loved faces rounding out the cast. Natalie Portman will be reprising her role as Jane Foster, sometimes called the Mighty Thor, and appearances from Russel Crowe, Chris Pratt, Tessa Thompson, Mat Damon, Melissa McCarthy, and Christian Bale create a star-studded superhero romp.

While there’s no more details to share right now, Chris Hemsworth himself has promised us laughs, romps, and a twanged heartstring or two, so make sure this is on your radar.

    Releasing: July 2022

    Black Panther: Wakanda Forever

This long-awaited sequel to the inspiring 2018 Black Panther film will, sadly, be missing the man who brought the role to life. After the tragic loss of Chadwick Boseman, who played the titular character as T’Challa, King of Wakanda, there’s some big shoes to fill, but we are super excited to see what director Ryan Coogler has done with this iconic black superhero. The rest of the stellar ensemble cast will be back to reprise their roles, however, so it’s sure to be an exciting one. The release date is quite far off, so we don’t have more details, but we will keep you posted as they arrive.

    Releasing: November 2022

Among the many returning faces, we have an exciting new superhero to enjoy. The cousin of much-loved Marvel hero, Bruce Banner (the Hulk himself) is Jennifer Walters, played by relative newcomer Tatiana Maslany. Receiving a desperately needed blood transfusion from her cousin, Jennifer finds she inherits the same transformative superpowers, too, and takes to the superhero stage as She-Hulk.

Mark Ruffalo will reprise his role as the man himself, and Jameela Jamil, Ginger Gonzaga, Tim Roth, and Josh Segarra will round out the cast.

Releasing: TBA, but we’re promised 2022!

Bonus: Guardians of the Galaxy: The Holiday Special

This is less of a superhero film and more of a sweet year-end teaser to carry us through until 2023, when we’ll see the next Guardians of the Galaxy film hit our screens. Created, written, and directed by James Gunn. For now, we don’t know much more about the plot, but it’s sure to be a fantastic holiday season treat for superhero fans everywhere, so keep an eye on Disney+ for more details of this lighthearted take on the Marvel Universe.
