  • The next edition of the world’s most popular football game is set to be released later this year as EA Sports’ FIFA 22 is on the horizon.

Although the release date is yet to be confirmed, the game has been released between the final week of September and first week of October since 2003. A date could be announced at the EA Play Live event on 22 July.

Here are five things to expect from FIFA 22:

    Console Versions

The new game is expected to be released on next gen consoles PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, as well as Windows, PS4 and Xbox One consoles.

Those who continue to enjoy FIFA on their Windows desktop are also able to check out the latest online slots guide in between playing their games, allowing punters to both gamble online and play FIFA (alone or with friends).

The Nintendo Switch version of FIFA in recent years has been updated teams, players and squads rather than a new version of the game. This may well be the case again later this year.

    Next Gen

The PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of FIFA offered users faster load times, responsive haptic feedback and more realistic graphics off-the-ball. These changes plus many more can be expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Improved Ai for both teammates and opposition players is certainly one of the expectations, whilst there’s no doubt we will see an even greater improvement in graphics given the power of these new next gene consoles.

    Gameplay

Each yeah EA Sports improve the gameplay and you can be sure this will continue in FIFA 22.

The most recent version of the game saw Agile Dribbling, Positioning Personality and Creative Runs added as well as improvements in defending, passing and dribbling.

    Legendary Players

There were more than 100 icons in FIFA 21 and an even greater number are expected to be added this year.

FIFA Online has been a good indicator of some of those names in recent years, and the following legends of the game were recently added to FIFA Online 4:

    • Gabriel Batistuta
    • Cha Bum-kun
    • Iker Casillas
    • Diego Forlan
    • Park Ji-Sung
    • Lucio
    • Wesley Sneidjer
    • Jaap Stam
    • Robin van Persie

We can be confident the above names will be FIFA 22 Icons, among others.

    Volta Football

One of the most popular additions to the series in recent years has been Volta Football. The game expanded in last year’s release to allow users to play each other online, as well as new stadiums, players, locations and merchandise being added.

Expect several further additions to Volta later this year, including a new story mode of course.

    Career Mode

Players expect Career Mode to be improved and updated with each new release and this year will be no different.

Improved AI and transfer options improved the realistic nature of the mode in the last edition but further changes are still needed. Expect the mode to have been developed further over the past year to make it even more realistic and enjoyable.
