The Game of Poker: An Insider’s Perspective

Sponsored – Being different takes a lot of work, or none whatsoever. There are many games out there that require you to conform to the norm to get ahead. The game of life is perhaps one such example. Fortunately, here at Unwinnable we play by a different set of rules. We took a long, hard look at the world’s favorite skill-based card game and the many variants it comes in. For starters, there’s the King of the Hill – the ultimate moneymaker, Texas Hold’em poker. This game is the darling of the WSOP (World Series of Poker), the WPT (World Poker Tour), and the EPT (European Poker Tour). It is the featured attraction at the Main Event, and that is where the big money is.

As a Texas Hold’em poker player, you’re going to be dealt into a blistering game of probability, psychology, and chicanery. True to form, Texas Hold’em poker will reveal your innermost strengths and weaknesses. It all begins with 2 Hole Cards, The Flop (the first 3 Community Cards), The Turn (the 4th community card) and The River (this is the 5th and final Community Card). Your goal is simple: Build the highest ranking 5 card poker hand possible given your 2 hole cards and the 5 community cards. Fortunately, you don’t need to use your pocket cards in Texas Hold‘em Poker – you can play the board.

Ready to Rack’em and Stack’em with Omaha Hi Poker?
Texas Hold’em wasn’t always the game of choice for poker players. In fact, Omaha Hi was wildly popular for many years and still plays second fiddle to Texas Hold’em. In case you’re wondering, Omaha Hi is a fantastic poker game. This is also known as Pot Limit Omaha. The betting structure is a little different, in that players can wager as much as the limits set in the pot. Omaha Hi is not associated with the city of Omaha in Nebraska, or Omaha in Texas. It was first played in Sin City back in 1982 and it is ideal for between 2 – 10 players.

The game is different to Texas Hold’em in that players are dealt 4 hole cards as opposed to 2. The same 5 community cards are dealt into the center of the table, and players are required to use 2 of the 4 hole cards to form the best 5-card hand. Over the course of the game, there are 4 betting rounds – easy peasy. This is a great poker game, and one that blends skill and strategy perfectly. The goal – as its namesake suggests – is to form the best 5 card high poker hand.

And Then There was Snap Poker
Poker is one of those games that keeps on evolving. A great example of this is Snap Poker. One of the problems with conventional online poker games is the time between games. People are looking for fast-fold poker games, and Snap Poker is one such game. What  makes this game unique is its rapid-play nature.

The time between folding your cards and a new round of poker beginning is greatly reduced. This means that you get to play a new hand of poker as soon as you have folded your current hand. It works in much the same way as a traditional game of Texas Hold’em Poker.

You have 2 hole cards, The Flop, the Turn and the River. Another major difference between this game and other poker variants is that you’re not seated at the same table as the same players during every game round. There is an ever-changing mix of players whenever you fold your cards. The objective is the same: form the best 5-card hand given your 2 hole cards and the 5 community cards. Voila
