Oh, i think I get what you mean. It's hard to get back into a game that's so content heavy after a break. I do think that there are a place for games like that, but it's going to take a bit of work between meeting fan expectations and delivering just enough content so that people won't get bored. Thanks for the thought though, it's a really interesting idea.

I like No Man's Sky. In fact, I like it a lot. There's tons of going around, but the going around is fairly low impact, so it's easy to pick it up for a little bit (or a lot of bits) and then put it down for a while, but it's still easy to come back to later. But--unlike apparently everyone else on the Internet--No Man's Sky is both more or less what I was expecting it to be and more or less exactly what I wanted from it.

I don't think it's necessarily any specific developer's job to make games that are less time consuming. But I do think there's a nice niche available for someone who can figure out how to deliver the things that are great about large-scale games in a less time-consuming package.

Although, I imagine there are a lot of obstacles facing anyone who might think about trying to fill such a niche, both in costs of development and difficulty of marketing the product.

How do you feel about No Man's Sky then? I mean, it's big but not wide in scope. And honestly, I doubt it's on the developer's part to make games that are less time-consuming for us ;)
