I just had a discouraging event today. I am trying to get used to stick and unlearning old "button mashing" habits (I blame SF Alpha lol) and I play a guy probably 30 times and I thought he was being nice the fact he kept beating me (I only won once) and still playing instead if leaving. He instead, messages me and says "stop playing street fighter" he goes on how bad I am and then says "go play marvel and button mash to your hearts content. Ouch… being like you and been playing street fighter and loved it and the entire franchise so much this was a devastating comment. I told him thanks for the fight, thanked him on twitter and kept the high ground. Thanks for this wonderful article. It has helped me keep my head up.

Agreed–we've spent almost as much time watching replays and discussing fights and techniques as we have playing. The metagame has value too!
