Comparing this to anything Gus has ever written is an undeserved, but much appreciated, compliment. Thank you!

In reply to <a href="https://unwinnable.com/2012/12/17/triggers/#comment-46205">JosBonald</a>.

Well, I think it's one of the most important things Unwinnable has ever published.

If you've never suffered from compulsive or racing thoughts, you might not know about the perpetual fear of going "out of control." They say that about acrophobia, you know—people aren't really scared of "heights" so much as they are afraid they'll jump. It only takes a moment of "crazy" to give in to it. Of course you won't give in to it, but the very hypothetical is like this mega pervasive, chilling thought.

I'm not sure whether you've done anything impulsive or out-of-character—usually people don't, and then the impulse subsides, as if it really were only a figment of the imagination—but the distance from thought to action really is very short. Haven't you ever said anything you wished you could take back? Well. Maybe you haven't.

Games, like real life, reward snap judgments and on-the-fly decision-making. We aren't very thoughtful. Isn't that sort of scary? If it isn't, well, would we were all so well-adjusted.
