Myself being born in 1981, a lot of the designs came from a similar place for me, an era that I was too young to be a part of but still have memories of. In Cool Pizza's case it was the skater culture of the late 70's and early 80's, the associated skateboard/sticker art and monochrome PC graphics (early Mac OS specifically). Insightful article, I loved it.
