Thank you for writing this article! It was a pleasure to read your reflections.

I've long been struggling with the societal norms of monogamy, and the idea that when you're not in a monogamous relationship, you're basically an incomplete person. The biggest problem: Even if eventually you have found a way for yourself to just live and do whatever you like, and fuck societal expectations - the people you wind up spending quality romance time with usually haven't. What good is it to break through all these internalized stereotypes if you're just going to be confronted with them again and again whenever you get close to someone?

I read this article all the way through assuming it was a gay man writing about games. What does that say about me?

I hadn't thought of myself as the kind of person to make those judgements, but when I hit the bottom and said "Oh! The author's a woman?" I was a little surprised at myself. It seems like a whole different stereotype that while girls may be able to play games (the gamer girl is alive and well at comic-con this weekend) but I wouldn't expect her to thoughtfully analyse them? That doesn't seem right.

I guess at least I'm not homophobic? Either way, excellent read.
