					<description><![CDATA[There is a scene/story in Catch-22 wherein the wife of a veteran (who is a friend of Heller) complains that old men talk about war as if they were as wise as they are now, when they participated back then. This article reminds me of some of that, how do you say, anachronistic self-awareness that was probably entirely absent at the time. 
 
And anyway, cynical awareness about the vapidity of media and corporate America is not some invention of the New Generation. In fact, the post-war culture produces cynics that would put any modern-day, politically/culturally savvy wannabe to shame. ]]></description>
