But your off about the premise in a few ways:

1. Thundera is the kingdom and Third Earth is the planet, therefore there will be no spaceship leaving the planet. They changed the original storyline. So instead of leaving a dying planet, they left a dying kingdom.

2. Cheetara is no longer older than Lion-O by that much, they are around the same age. The idea that a child is stuck in an old body has be left behind in the original series. Lion-O no longer has a childs mentality. This is not a prequel.

I enjoyed the show and will be watching it weekly. I'm happy with the changes. LOVE the new Wilykit and Wilykat. This isn't a prequel, tho. This is a re-imagining of the series. The story takes place on Third Earth already and yes those strange Ro-Bear Berbils will be showing up. I watched some clips from the Thundercats panel from Comic-Con and they reveal a few things about the series. Yeah, I'm excited for this show.

I find the idea of a Thundercats prequel storyline kind of questionable, because the Thundercats mythology was essentially Star Wars and Superman duct-taped together, with a little 80'd cartoon sword fetishism thrown in, but it sounds like they've changed the mythology and in this case that might be a good thing.
