It is doubtful that a new iPad will come out this Dec. It is HIGHLY likely that a new one will come out 3 months AFTER Christmas. If this one does what you need, and you want it, get it.

Am I upset that a new Macpro came out, not 6 months after I upgraded? Sure. A little, but it is still quite an improvement over what I had, and I have gotten to enjoy it for the last 6 months. I don't need the fancy new (Thunderbolt) port, and by the time I upgrade again, there should be more than a handful of devices that actually take advantage of it.

My only reason for waiting for a revision is when it is a good bet that there will be one coming up SOON, when that particular piece of hardware tends to stick to a set schedule (see:Apple products)

– If it is that big of a deal, keep in mind that Apple products have very good value retention, which means you can sell your iPad 2 when the iPad 3 comes out and get some good coin for it.
