The outdoor game in Edmonton in 2003 was the Heritage Classic. The NHL didn't start using the Winter Classic name, or play the game on New Year's Day, until Buffalo in 2008. Sad that it took the league eight years before bringing another outdoor game to Canada, but I'm looking forward to Habs/Flames, assuming they televise this one Stateside.
