A very cioleplmng piece, Richard. Here is what I have done for the planet. Maybe it will give others ideas about what they can do today:I sold my house in the country and moved to an apartment downtown to have a smaller carbon footprint (i.e. smaller abode and less car travel as we had been making numerous trips per day into the city.)I no longer have a car and travel by foot or public transit. While not having a car isn’t my choice, I appreciate being forced to get active. With a car, I’d do a lot less walking.I use only environmentally-friendly cleaning products.I unplug small appliances and battery chargers when not in use.I recycle and use compact fluorescent bulbs throughout my home, turn lights off when not being used and avoid, when possible, plastic bags. I do not, for example, put fruits and vegetables into a plastic bag for purchasing unless they are numerous and small.I always turn off my computer monitor whenever I get up from working. I’ve been told the monitor uses 75% of the energy consumption of computers.Where I still fail is on printing. Particularly when I am editing a manuscript — either my own or someone else’s. I have to print those and that wastes A LOT of paper.Does anyone have other suggestions to share that I could adopt?
